この度、三越コンテンポラリーギャラリーでは、スペイン在住アーティストJuan Diaz-Faes(フアン・ディアス・ファエス)の日本初個展を開催いたします。

Diaz-Faesはスペイン北部Oviedo(オビエド)に生まれ、現在は首都マドリードで活動しています。「私は人々を幸せにするものを作るよう努めています」とアーティストは語ります。

絵画にとどまらず壁画、彫刻、グラフィックデザイン、パブリックアートなど多くの分野に表現の幅を広げています。主にモノクロームで描く彼のキャラクターは、笑っていたり、無表情であったり、時に不満気な表情をしています。彼が命を与えた賑やかなキャラクターたちの楽しい物語に鑑賞者は引き込まれていきます。

本展では、Diaz-Faesが「折り紙」と呼ぶ作品や、幾何形体が印象的な作品、ドローイングなどを展覧いたします。

「UNO」とはスペイン語の「ONE」。日本では初めての、Juan Diaz-Faesの個展をぜひお楽しみください。

Mitsukoshi Contemporary Gallery is pleased to announce the first solo exhibition in Japan of the Spainish artist Juan Diaz-Faes. Born in Oviedo, northern Spain, Diaz-Faes currently works in the capital, Madrid. The artist expresses a commitment to creating works that bring happiness to people.

Diaz-Faes extends his artistic expression beyond painting into various fields such as murals, sculpture, graphic design, and public art. His characters, primarily depicted in monochrome, exhibit diverse emotions, ranging from joy to indifference and occasionally expressing discontent. Viewers are drawn into the delightful narratives of the lively characters brought to life by the artist.

The exhibition feautres Diaz-Faes’s works, including pieces he refers to as “ORIGAMI” pieces with striking geometric forms, paintings and drawings. “UNO” meaning “ONE” in Spanish, marks the artist’s first solo exhibition in Japan.
